  • 29 Jan 1951: SEARCH FOR MISSING AIRMEN
    MELBOURNE. Sunday.-Rev. Esmond New, of the Alma Road Presbyterian Church, St. Kilda, unknown to all but a few close friends and service chiefs, has been in Korea for the past four weeks searching for missing Australian airmen.
    So far he has recovered two bodies and collected valuable intelligence information from behind the North Korean lines.
    Details of his Korean mission were made public by the Minister for Air (Mr. White). He said Mr. New was asked to re-enlist in the R.A.A.F. special duties branch be cause of his wide knowledge of Korea. He did so on December 12, with the rank of Squadron-Leader. He gained his knowledge of Korea during five years' missionary work between 1934 and the outbreak of war.16
  • 28 Apr 1951: Lecture on Korea. A lecture on Korea will be given in Prahran Municipal Library on Thursday, at 8.15 p.m., by Rev. Esmond New, Presbyterian missionary, who recently returned from Korea.17
