  • 19 Dec 1910: KILLED BY FALLING TREE. PAKENHAM, Sunday.—Word was received here last night to the effect that a young man named Herbert Mayall, aged 20 years, had been killed at Gembrook yesterday. Deceased was employed at one of the sawmills, and was felling timber, when a branch struck him on the back. He was removed to the hotel, but died shortly after arrival.5
  • 19 Dec 1910: YOUNG MAN FATALLY CRUSHED. GEMBROOK. Sunday. A fatal accident happened yesterday morning at the Tonimbuk Saw Mills, Gembrook. A young man named Herbert Mayall, 21 years, was engaged at the breaking down bench, and was crushed under a log. He lingered for a few hours, but before medical assistance could be obtained he had succumbed to his injuries. Deceased was highly respected. He was the nephew of Mr. J. Mayall, a very old resident. The Coroner (Dr. Cole) visited Gembrook today, and gave an order for the burial. An inquest will be held during the week.6
