  • 9 Oct 1896: HARGREAVES-PEELE.-A very quiet wedding wassolemnised by the Rev. Canon Tucker at Christ Church, South Yarra, on Wednesday, September 30, when Miss Florence Peele, oldest daughter of Mr. James Peele, of " Como," Park-street, South Yarra, was united to Mr. E. H. Hargreaves, of Christchurch, New Zealand. The marriage was strictly private, only the immediate relations and several intimate family friends being present. The bride, who was led into the church by her father, wore a dainty frock of white French muslin with the new collar and stock of satin. A tulle veil was softly arranged over a spray of orange flowers, and a posey of lilies and carnations with white streamers completed the toilette. There was one bridesmaid in attendance—Miss Nellie Peele—who wore a pretty dress of foam green crepe, with full vest caught with bands of shell pink, and white picture hat trimmed with ostrich plumes. Mr. Douglas Hart fulfilled the duties ot best man. After the ceremony the wedding party adjourned to " Como," where afternoon tea was served. Mr. and Mrs.Hargreaves then left for the honeymoon trip, which will be passed in Sydney. The travelling costume was of sapphire and black fancy cloth, with smart capote of blue velvet embellished with black ostrich plumes and jet ornaments. Mr. and Mrs. Hargreaves will take up their residence in Christchurch, New Zealand. Florence Amy Peele4
